Our Pilates Teacher Training Program offers an immersive educational experience designed to deepen your understanding of the Pilates method and prepare you to teach with confidence, knowledge, and purpose.
Whether your goal is to become a professional Pilates instructor or expand your personal practice, we invite you to begin by applying online.
Once we receive your application, our team will reach out within 48 hours to schedule a one-on-one interview with studio director Susie Karvelis. This personalized conversation gives us the opportunity to learn more about your goals, answer your questions, and ensure the program is the right fit for you.
Not in Miami? Interviews may also be completed via Zoom.

Our Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training combines structured in-person training, online education, independent practice, and Live Virtual participation, giving students flexibility while maintaining the hands-on experience essential to becoming a confident Pilates teacher.
Training formats include:
In-Person Training: Completed live in person at South Beach Pilates in Miami Beach.
Online Education: Includes pre-recorded anatomy and exercise videos for visual learning, along with other required online coursework.
Live Virtual: When designated, instructors and students are connected and participating in real time, allowing for live teaching and interaction. Observation and practice teaching hours may be completed live in person or through Live Virtual participation.
Independent Practice: Completed independently on your own time.

Choosing the right certification pathway is an important step in your professional journey. Our Comprehensive Teacher Training Program exceeds the minimum education requirements for eligibility to pursue certification through the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP).
The National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) is the independent credentialing organization that administers the NPCP certification examinations.
Upon successful completion of our Comprehensive Teacher Training Program and all applicable NPCP eligibility requirements, graduates may apply to sit for the NPCP Comprehensive Certification Exam.

Step into the world of Pilates with confidence. In this foundational block, you'll explore essential principles of human movement and how they come to life through the Pilates Mat repertoire. You'll build a strong understanding of anatomy, Pilates repertoire, cueing, and teaching while developing the tools to begin teaching with clarity and intention.

Live in person at South Beach Pilates and includes hands-on learning and instruction, Body Organics Education exercises, the 34 exercises from Joseph Pilates' Return to Life Through Contrology, and work with special populations.Independent Practice: 20 Hours

To successfully complete Block 1, students must:
Attend all required in-person training sessions
Complete all required independent practice, observation, and practice teaching hours

Successfully complete a practical teaching assessment by teaching a small Mat group

Get ready to dive deeper. In this block, you'll explore the spine and torso in greater detail, including its relationship to the shoulder, psoas, sacrum, and nervous system. You'll begin learning the Reformer repertoire while discovering how thoughtful movement sequencing and anatomical awareness can elevate both your personal practice and your teaching.

This is where it all starts to click. Building on Block 2, you'll continue developing your Reformer repertoire and introduce the Arc while diving deeper into programming, assessment, and screening. You'll begin bringing anatomy, repertoire, cueing, and programming together to create thoughtful, effective movement experiences.
With personalized feedback and support from your teachers, you'll continue refining your teaching skills and developing your individual voice.

Movement isn't one-size-fits-all. In this block, you'll deepen your anatomical knowledge with focused study of the feet, knees, hips, and femur while learning the Wunda Chair repertoire.
You'll continue developing the skills to observe movement, understand individual needs, and teach with greater versatility, confidence, and care.

In Block 5, you'll expand your anatomical understanding with a focus on the neck, jaw, hand, wrist, and elbow while exploring the relationship between breath and movement. You'll also learn the Trapeze Table repertoire in detail and discover how this versatile apparatus complements and integrates with the work developed throughout the program.
Expect to leave with a deeper understanding of the breath-body connection and an increasingly integrated approach to teaching.

This is where everything comes together. Block 6 focuses on integration, goals, programming, initial assessment, Magic Circle, and Props, giving you the opportunity to bring together the knowledge and teaching skills developed throughout your training.
You'll refine your ability to assess, program, and teach thoughtfully while expanding your use of the Magic Circle and Props and demonstrating your understanding through your final case study and practical teaching assessment.

If you've previously completed a Mat and/or Reformer certification, we’ll work with you to map your experience to our Mat & Reformer or Comprehensive Certification pathway. Training hours in supervised teaching and self-mastery that align with our standards may be recognized toward your certification.
If there’s a gap between your past training and our program’s requirements, no worries—we’ll guide you through the steps needed to meet our elevated standards and get you certified with confidence.

Before you join, we recommend having at least 10 Pilates mat or reformer classes under your belt. These can be taken anywhere—online or in person, at any studio that suits you. Think of it as laying the foundation for a strong, confident start!

The online coursework is thoughtfully structured into weekly sections, helping you stay on track at a steady pace. Most students spend an average of 4–7 hours per week, but there’s flexibility in how you manage your time. While the weekly schedule serves as a guide, you must complete the required number of weeks before attending each in-person training.

Our in-person training meets on Saturday afternoons and is designed to fit your life, not the other way around. Each block runs for 2–3 months, depending on the program schedule, giving you space to learn and grow at a steady, supported pace. You’ll complete a minimum of 20 hours of in-person training, with additional hours scheduled as needed. Schedules are finalized together as a group to create a supportive and flexible learning experience.

Yes! Attendance at all in-person training sessions is required.

If you miss an in-person session, you’ll need to schedule a makeup session with an NCPT teacher to cover the material. The cost for a makeup session is $55 per hour.

What’s included? Digital manuals, video resources, in-person training, and a final test-out. You’ll also have access to the studio for practice, observation, and teaching hours (pre-approved times required). If you prefer printed manuals, you’ll be responsible for printing costs, but digital versions are always included.

South Beach Pilates and Body Organics Education do not require certification renewal. If you choose to take the NPCP Mat or Comprehensive Certification Exam, the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) will oversee the continuing education credit (CEC) requirements needed to maintain your certification.
